The cost of living in Burlington, like many other communities, is increasing to the point of it being difficult for many residents to choose to call Burlington home.
The cost of housing is out of control and our seniors, youth and newcomers cannot find adequate accommodations.
To deal with this, I Chaired the first Housing Strategy Working Group and brought representatives from across Burlington together to work on creative housing solutions, so that everyone feels welcome in Burlington.
For existing homeowners, the reality of hitting 8% inflation in 2022 is making it very difficult to cover the cost of housing expenses, gas and property taxes.
The City of Burlington is not immune to this 8% rise of inflation and we, at Council, will be challenged to balance inflation with the infrastructure needs of the City.
My background working for 30+ years in the non-profit sector has taught me how to be very frugal with government funds and how to stretch a dollar very far.
Council owes it to you to ensure that the City of Burlington runs efficiently and that we work very hard to keep property taxes as low as possible and always be transparent and accountable with your hard-earned tax dollars.
