Why I am seeking re-election to City Council
Burlington is changing as a City and I know that the people of this community are looking for leadership that challenges the status quo at City Hall and helps to guide our City into a bright future.
I believe I have the experience, the ideas and the energy to make that happen.
I have been a proud resident of Burlington for over 30 years as well as a proud resident of Ward 4 having started my family 25 years ago in the north Palmer Community and now enjoying residing in the south Tecumseh Community.
I bring a wealth of professional experience to the role of City and Regional Councillor having spent nearly three decades working as a Social Worker, Mediator and Systems Navigator within the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education and Ministry of Community and Social Services.
For the past 4 years it has been a true honour to represent the residents of Ward 4 and I believe I have made a distinctly positive contribution to the evolution of City Council and City Hall processes, procedures and priorities.
When people ask why I chose to run for City Council, the answer is simple…
I’m passionate about citizen empowerment and community development.
I believe in a ‘bottom-up’ rather than a ‘top-down’ approach, starting with the principle that in any community there is a wealth of knowledge and experience which can be channeled into collective action to achieve the community’s desired goals. The citizens of Burlington have great ideas and want their voices heard and respected at City Hall. The responsibility of a City Councillor is to amplify the voices of the community they represent, and I am committed to doing just that.
